MAMBO (Cuba) - Grade 2
El mambo es un ritmo y danza originarios de Cuba, cuyo antecedente se encuentra en el montuno, sección final del danzón caracterizada por la improvisación instrumental y la libertad expresiva del baile. A partir de mediados del siglo XX, el término mambo comenzó a utilizarse en distintas regiones del Gran Caribe para nombrar secciones musicales con frases repetitivas, gran energía rítmica y un marcado carácter expresivo. La figura de Dámaso Pérez Prado fue fundamental en la internacionalización de este estilo a lo largo de las Américas, popularizando además recursos escénicos como interjecciones vocales y sonidos guturales. Mambo, escrita para banda de grado 2, retoma ese espíritu festivo y vibrante, incorporando dichos recursos expresivos y ofreciendo a los intérpretes una obra accesible, dinámica y llena de sabor caribeño.
